Leviton's Residential Intercom System used the home's Cat5/5e wiring to transmit voice signals both throughout the home and to the home's outside entry points. Outdoor Stations are an alternative to standard doorbells and easily install in double-gang wallboxes mounted by the home's front and rear entrances. Indoor stations can be mounted in convenient locations within the home for communication with the home's telephones. These enable homeowners to audibly screen visitors from within the home without having to walk to a front door or back door to see who is calling.
The modular Intercom System consists of a Main Controller Board, Outdoor Station, optional Indoor Stations, Interface Board, Door Chime and Door Strike Modules which easily install in any Leviton Structured Media™ System. A major advantage of the system is that it uses standard telephones for the indoor user interface. For streamlined installations, the Main Controller Board, Outdoor Station and Interface Board are packaged as a standalone kit.

The Main Controller Board Kit is the starting point of the many contractor-friendly operational components that combine to provide a flexible feature set that can be quickly adapted to a home owner's specific needs. All accessories are added to this basic system.
The Main Controller Board Kit contains a Main Controller Board on a bracket, an Interface Board, a 24V Power Supply, an Outdoor Station and three 1-ft Patch Cords. When combined with a Leviton Structured Media System, the kit's components work together to provide an expandable residential intercom system for any home.

The Outdoor Station provides the user outdoor interface for Leviton's Residential Intercom System. It is designed for exterior mounting. Once the call button is activated, all phones in the house will ring with a distinctive ring that indicates an incoming intercom communication. A full duplex speaker is incorporated that allows conversation with whoever responds by picking up a phone. One is shipped with the Main Controller Board Kit (Cat. No. 47000-MKB), located in the Structured Media Center (SMC) to which it is connected over Cat 5e UTP cabling. Additional stations can be added for larger installations.

After replacing a doorbell button with an Outdoor Station, adding the Chime Board to a Leviton Residential Intercom System permits a legacy doorbell to ring in addition to the phones ringing when any zone is activated. It is designed as an expansion board that mounts on an available spot on the Intercom System bracket in the Structured Media™ Center (SMC). Two screw terminals on the board permit attachment of one wire from the doorbell and another from the doorbell's power supply location after the doorbell is pre-wired to the SMC to enable momentary contact closure to activate the doorbell.

The Door Strike Board provides support for remote operation of up to 4 door strikes by entering a code via any phone in a house when used in conjunction with Leviton's Residential Intercom System. It is designed as an expansion board that mounts on a Leviton bracket in the Structured Media Center (SMC). Dip switches on the board set the activation code on all connected phones for remote door strike activation and length of time door strike is activated to allow entry.

The System Interface Board is just one of a series of contractor friendly operational components that combine to provide a flexible feature set that can be quickly adapted to a home owner's specific needs.
When added to the Main Controller Board, the Interface Board provides connectivity for up to 4 additional wall stations (one in each of four zones numbered 1-4). With additional 47000-PRT's, the system can support up to 12 stations (with up to three in each of four zones). Adding multiple stations to each zone requires connection of multiple Interface Boards via their Output/Aux jack. Each Interface Board includes 4 sets of dry contact closure terminals - one for each zone - that allow activation of phones in the house with the distinctive ring of the zone to which a tripped motion, security or other type of sensor is connected. The Interface Board is designed as an expansion board that mounts on an available spot on the Intercom System bracket in the SMC.
