Up-Converters are also referred to as Line Doublers, Video Scalers and Video-to-VGA or Video-to-PC Converters. Up-Converters transform standard analog video signals into higher resolution computer signals. A key step in this process is de-interlacing the video signal and converting it into a progressive scan signal. The simplest method of up-converting is by line doubling, which results in a 640x480 VGA signal. A more advanced method of up-converting is by video scaling, which results in a variety of selectable higher resolutions. Video scaling generally produces a smoother image and may be preferable when feeding larger screen video projection systems. Up-Converters can be used for anything from playing a video game on a computer monitor to watching a DVD movie on a large screen computer resolution projection system. imageMAX PLUS employs frame buffering technology, which can significantly increase the quality of images by doubling the
standard video lines. It converts the standard NTSC or PAL analog video signal from 15.75KHz up to 31.5KHz horizontal
scan rate and provides 480p, 576p, 720p or 1080i line resolutions for HDTV-ready displays, as well as VGA, SVGA, XGA and
SXGA for PC-compatible displays. The brightness will be significantly increased and the flicker dramatically reduced. In

AVT-3900 HDMI Scaler is a high bandwidth, professional quality product that accepts HDMI signals, DVI signals (via DVI to HDMI cable), PC generated RGB signals (up to WUXGA), HD Component signals (YPbPr/YCbCr, 480i up to 1080p), S-Video and Composite Video signals as valid inputs. It scales these signals to provide a fully compliant HDMI output with up to 1080p resolution.
The scaling engine processes the selected input signal and delivers an HDMI output that is compliant with version 1.2 protocols. An integrated HDMI/DVI/HDCP receiver is central to the processor along with 3-D motion adaptive deinterlacers. 3:2 pull-down, 2:2 pull-down detection/recovery and 3-D noise reduction complete the superior video signal processing capability.
Audio inputs are provided for all sources and follow the video input selected. The HDMI output had embedded audio. An additional SPDIF audio output is provided for ease of connection to existing audio systems. Both digital and analog audio processing is supported and audio delays of up to 150ms can be introduced to insure lip sync.
The AVT-3900 may be operated from the front panel switches or via the supplied Infrared Remote Control. An On Screen Display (OSD) makes operation of the scaler fast and simple.
